Translation after the Persianate? Omar Khayyam and Late Perso-Ottoman Poetic Connectivity

Abstract This article focuses on late Ottoman/Turkish translations of Omar Khayyam’s Rubaiyat (“quatrains”) as part Perso-Ottoman poetic connectivity in the early twentieth century. Situating reception at nexus world literature, literary historiography, and translatability, explores methodological affordances translation to redress overdominance discursive historical points rupture studies Persianate literatures. To that end, offers a comparative reading Hüseyin Daniş’s Rubaiyat-ı Ömer Hayyam (1927), Rıza Tevfik’s ve Rubaileri (1945), both which are based their co-authored 1922, Mevlevi Mustafa Rüşdi b.
